Issues, Education and Advocacy

LI provides information, resources and training opportunities to develop the strength of women to set their own agendas about issues important to the health and well-being in their own lives and to their families and community. Through outreach programs, LI empowers Latinas to be more effective organizers in their community and more engaged in the political process.

  Delegate University - the Democratic National Convention is coming to Denver and the Republic Convention will be in Minnesota and the Latina Initiative and The White House Project want to you to be delegate! We will be hosting a yearlong series of events and trainings leading up to the conventions.

The Serious Women, Serious Issues, Serious Action (SSS) project includes a yearly conference in partnership with 9to5 National Association of Working Women.  The theme of this year’s conference is “Overcoming Barriers, Creating Opportunities” on September 28th & 29th and will include speakers on healthcare, immigration, economic justice/civil rights and education.  Keynote speaker is Gretchen McComb, Executive Director of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado.

LI is partnering with the White House Project to offer a yearlong series of events and trainings leading up to the 2008 conventions.  The kick off for Delegate University is  August 22, 2007 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.  Special guest speaker is Senator Ken Salazar.
