Amber J. Tafoya, Esq. - Executive Director
Amber J. Tafoya comes to the Latina Initiative with more than 7 years' leadership experience in the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining the Latina Initiative, Amber managed her company, Tafoya Law and Consulting, LLC. In her practice, she provided non-profit consulting services as well as a multitude of legal and educational services for immigrants. Ms. Tafoya also has an extensive background in policy, statewide coalition building and community organizing from her past work with the Colorado Immigrant Rights Collation, Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pueblo.
“My strong commitment and passion for addressing our needs as Latinas through public policy make this position an exciting opportunity. My goal is to make sure that we as Latinas are the ones who determine our own life choices and direction,” said Ms. Tafoya. "It is such an exciting opportunity to be working with so many talented women."
Amber a native of Pueblo, Colorado graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and New World History from University of Southern Colorado. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Colorado. She is a frequent speaker on immigration policy, civil rights, multicultural issues, and the impact of Latinas.
Dymarie Colon Flores - Operations Manager
Dymarie Colon Flores brings many years of strong skills and experience in the private sector as a forensic accountant and manager to the Latina Initiative. She has an extensive background in organizational development and we are thrilled she was able to join the organization.
Her choice to work at the Latina Initiative has been fueled by her "desire to work somewhere where my skills are impacting the greater good and helping other Latinas to be involved."
