Ya Es Hora-Colorado Citizenship Campaign

In June of 2007, The Latina Initiative helped launch the "Colorado Ya Es Hora Ciudadania” campaign intended to inform, educate, and motivate lawful permanent residents to apply for citizenship. Due to the demand from the community the Ya Es Hora Ciudadanía Campaign continues to expand and strengthen in 2009!

 

Working in partnership with many others, the Latina Initiative has:

• Helped lawful permanent residents (LPR’S) apply for citizenship, over 1000 LPR’s have gone through the citizenship workshops.
• Helped over (1000) lawful permanent residents apply for citizenship.
• Since July of 2007, we have helped 29 lawful permanent residents pass the citizenship test through our citizenship classes.

The national and Colorado "Ya Es Hora Ciudadanía" campaigns are a comprehensive civic participation community response to the pro-immigrant mobilizations of 2006. The campaign represents the largest coordinated effort to incorporate immigrants as full participants in the American political process.
