ORAALE!
Latina Initiative is starting a new after-school program called ORAALE! (Opportunity to Raise Awareness for Allies and Latinas/os through Education) which works to help young Latinas/os and allies get educated on the legislative and electoral process through video messaging.

Manual High School

North High School
Congratulations North High School team on being the first winners of the ORAALE Video Contest!
Through this learning process, students will develop their own views and build their political voice on issues that are important to them and their community.
This program will enable students to:
- Learn how to research issues and legislation that affect them, their family, and their community
- Learn how to contact their legislators and community leaders
- Engage and educate their fellow classmates on the issues they are researching
- Learn how to effectively work in groups
- Build confidence
- Develop leadership skills
- Use the internet and video messaging to educate!
This 12-week program will give students the opportunity to use the internet to educate their family and friends. We want them to understand that their voice can be heard and they can use technology to deliver their message.
We have pilot programs at two Denver Public High Schools: Manual, and North. Each school will produce a video and compete with each other. The video with the most hits on YouTube.com will win a prize and the video will be showcased during LI's End-of-Year Celebration!
