Leadership Development

LI is dedicated to developing leadership among young, mature Latinas. In partnership with several organizations, leadership training and engagement opportunities are provided throughout the year to empower Latinas to prepare them to be informed, influential, civically-engaged women.

LI launched a new after-school program called ORAALE! (Opportunity to Raise Awareness for Allies and Latinas/os through Education) designed to give students the tools to become actively involved in the political process through technology and video messaging. Learn more & watch the videos!

In 2007, LI launched a two-year long partnership with the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity & Reproductive Rights (COLOR) called LIPS (Latinas Increasing Political Strength) which engages young Latinas in community action, civic participation and the political process in a fun and effective way! Through a partnership with the Women’s Family Action Network, a project of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, LI advocates on issues including the reinstatement of the state Earned Income Tax Credit, and serving on the state’s Pay Equity Commission.
LI through a partnership with Girls Scouts provides trainings at youth detention facilities, middle and high schools all over Denver. To date LI has trained over 200 young women during the year of 2007 alone.
